Oyo To Build Parking Lots For Tanker Drivers

In its bid to address the dangers caused by indiscriminate parking of fuel tankers within the Ibadan metropolis, particularly on the highways, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has disclosed that his administration would build parking lots for tanker drivers in the state.

The governor who disclosed this while receiving a delegation of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), who paid him a courtesy visit at the Governor's Office in Ibadan, said the parking spaces would curb traffic jams on the highways.

He pledged his administration's support to the union through the provision of logistics that would boost the economy, curb oil spillages and pilfering and reduce the health hazard associated with oil spillages, adding that two more buses would be presented to the union very soon.

Oshiomhole Presents N159.213bn 2014 Budget

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole recently presented the state's 2014 budget estimates of N159.213 billion to the House of Assembly for approval.

The budget, tagged: “Budget of Renewed Hope”, was aimed at taking the state to the next level. It is N5.088 billion higher than the 2013budget, which stood at N154,125 billion.

According to Oshiomhole, the budget, which is aimed at opening up the state’s economy for rapid socio-economic development, is made up of N85,595 billion or 53.76 per cent Capital Expenditure and N73.617 billion or 46.24 per cent Recurrent Expenditure.

FAYEMI Presents N103.8B 2014 Budget To State Assembly

In order to keep the economy growing and sustain the tempo of development, Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has presented N103,882 billion 2014 Budget tagged: “Budget of Stability and Growth”, to the House of Assembly. The proposed budget exceeded Budget 2013 by N1.379 billion. N52,776,226 billion (52 per cent) was allotted to capital expenditure and N50,106,166 billion (48 per cent) to recurrent expenditure.
